Exercise

Body Mechanics

The way your body is held and moves during daily activity is body mechanics. Your posture is the most important components of body mechanics. Posture refers to the position of the spine, arms and legs.

Proper body mechanics is necessary to prevent injury to your spine. This is especially necessary when exercising. You need to make sure you move correctly and perform exercise safely. If you run or jog with poor body mechanics, you run the risk of back injury. Poor posture is one of the reasons for injury to back and neck. Yoga exercises are good to help obtain and maintain good posture, leading to good body mechanics.

The goal is to improve your body mechanics by proper posture, with exercises, will lead to proper spine alignment. Spine alignment help reduce the risk of injury in daily life. Practice good posture, develop good body mechanics and your back will thank you.

Wellness

Strong Bones

Bone health is important regardless of your age. Maintaining and building strong bones depends on Vitamin D, calcium and physical activity. The majority of your bone mass rapidly develops between ages of 10 and 20 and peaks at age 30. Osteoporosis is a disease where the bones become fragile and can break easy. This is showing up earlier and earlier in women and is not longer consider the "old age" disease.

After age 30 you tend to lose more bone than your body replenish. See like other tissue, your bone replenish itself. The idea is to have strong bones one you head into life after 30. One important way to do that is get enough calcium. Diary food offers the best source of calcium. The second important ste is regular physical activity. Weight-bearing exercise, such as walking, dancing, jogging will help prevent bone loss. You also need to add strength training to boosts bone density.

Fruit and vegetables are linked to lower incidence of osteoporosis. Fiber rich food is your friend to help with strong bones. Be smart, eat right, exercise and avoid bone loss.

Love Your Enemy

Luke 6:32 "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them."

It's easy to be nice and gracious to people who are being nice to you but what about people that seem to really test your patience, or challenge your character. Take a moment to think of the one person that is the hardest for you to love and the person you can easily love. The verse from Luke is telling us we should love both equally. That's where the love of Christ comes in; Jesus showed love to everyone and came to give life to everyone. We are to spread the love of Jesus through our actions, by what we say and how we respond to situations.

It's not enough to look at the homeless on the street and say they need help. We are charged to find out what the shelters can use to help accommodate the needs of the homeless. It's not enough to say the food bank is low on food; we are taxed to give food to feed the hungry and help nourish their souls as well. Our natural response is to show concern but not necessary act on those concerns.

What about the, person at the office that seems to always take credit for your ideas, can you love them? The boss that seems to not appreciate anything you do, do you care about their well being? The person that communicates you are their friend but then seems to always have something negative to say about you, where's the love? God can love all people through us.

Before being defensive and critical of others, stop and think do we really know about that person's situation. Do we really know what's going on in that person's life? Do we know why they can't commit to being a good friend, have they been hurt before? Do they need to work through some trust issues? We are not here to judge but we are here to show love to all. By letting God love these people through us, we will begin to love them also.

During this season of love, think about who it might be hard for you to show love to and ask God to love that person through you so that you can begin to love them also.
