Your Exercise Routine is Determined by You.

An exercise routine is important to maintain your healthy lifestyle. However, it’s not always easy to stick with your program. The secret is variety. In winter I go between the gym and the step aerobics tape at home. In summer I go between the gym and outdoors.

Your muscles as well as your mind will get bored with the same routine. It’s really up to you to find out what you like to do and use that to your advantage. I have been there and I know exactly when I prefer to be outside walking and when I prefer to be on the treadmill.

I am not a swimmer but I like to fast walk. I’m not a biker but I do like to hike. I like to walk on the treadmill but I despise walking around a track, going around in an oval is not appealing to me. I like jazzercise, step aerobics, and rhythm boxing. I use all of these to vary my routine so that I am motivated to stick with my exercise routine.

Another key to sticking with your program is to find out the best time to exercise. It could be morning or afternoon. I have to vary my schedule around my kid’s school schedule. In the winter, evening works best for me for exercising. I am blessed to have a job with flex time where I can change my schedule to best fit my home needs.

If exercising outside, get the children involved or your spouse involved in walking, biking or hiking with you. It’s also easy to stick with your program if you have an encourager and an interested participator. Solicit a girlfriend to be your accountability partner. The people that love and care will encourage and help you.

The benefit to exercising outside is that it helps the body manufacture Vitamin D but remember to wear your sunscreen. Exercising in the gym gives you an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. So whether you are spending time with your family, spending time with a girlfriend, making new friends or spending time reflecting alone, you are in control of the exercise routine you chose and how to change and vary your routine.
