Overflow with Hope

Dreams have been set aside for family, her hope and aspirations no longer exist. She exists for her family and feels trapped. This is the central theme from the new movie The Road to Rodanthe and also in the movie, Bridges of Madison County. In both movies along come a man that makes these women feel alive again, and shows them that they can have what they once dreamed of and they finally feel that they have found true love and happiness. However in both movies the women are ready to sustain their happiness based on a short 2 or 4 days and the expectation that one day they would be together with their new love but things didn’t work out in the end and all is lost.

As I was driving home from seeing The Road to Rodanthe, I knew that I had assurance of never losing the joy and love that sustains me each and every day. I knew that there was someone who loved me so much that I have assurance to see Him again. My anticipation will not be in vain. I have hope because of faith. I can really appreciate the joy and the peace I experience.

As I was reflecting, I know exactly how those two women felt in the movies. I had been there and the emptiness was unbearable until I fell in love with Jesus. I know because of Jesus I have a true friend, a provider, a comforter, a counselor, an encourager just to name a few. I also have the greatest love letter of all time, the Bible. My anticipation for what lies ahead is not in vain because I have a promise of everlasting life. He’s truly a Savior to me not just because he paid the price for my sins but because He’s always there no matter what the situation may be and if you treasure God’s words in your heart you will always have the help you need to stand up to the darkness of this world.

Our pastor constantly tell us it’s not about religion, it’s about a relationship. A relationship that transcends time and illuminate your life so that you can be a bright spot in a hopeless world. The women in the movie after several amazing days realized that they had made big sacrifices and voiced regrets for doing so. After accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I realize it’s not about me or my sacrifices but it’s about God’s will and plan for my life and glorifying Him in everything that I do.

Here's my prayer for you: Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
